Day 1
Arrive at the Guwahati Airport in the morning and kick-start your scenic journey to the state’s capital Shillong through beautiful scenery and mystic hills. On your way take a refreshing stop at the serene Umiam Lake, popular for its tranquil waters and lush surroundings. Once you reach Shillong, start local sightseeing with a visit to the great Laitlum Grand Canyons, providing panoramic views of deep gorges and rolling hills.
Next, you can stroll through the beautifully landscaped Ward’s Lake, a peaceful spot in the heart of Shillong. You can then visit the Shillong Peak, the highest point in the state, accessible via a Meghalaya Tourist Cab, for sweeping views of the city. Finish off the day with a visit to Police Bazaar, the commercial hub perfect for shopping and grabbing those souvenirs. Finally, spend the night at Woodstock in Upper Shillong or a similar comfortable stay.
Day 2
Start the next day with an early morning transfer to Cherrapunji, locally known as Sohra. This area is popular for its lush landscapes and abundant rainfall. On the way, take a break at the scenic Elephant Falls near Shillong, a three-tiered waterfall surrounded by greenery. Continue the journey and take in the breathtaking views from the Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point, a perfect spot to admire Meghalaya’s cliffs and breathtaking hills.
Once in Cherrapunji, you can visit the spectacular Nohkalikai Falls, India’s tallest plunge waterfall, and soak in its sheer beauty. Finish your day with a walk through Mawsmai Cave, a well-lit limestone cavern filled with fascinating rock formations. After a day of exploring nature’s wonders, unwind and stay overnight at Saimika Resort, La Kupar Vista, or a similar cozy retreat nestled in the hills.
Day 3
On Day 3, begin your journey toward the scenic town of Dawki, known for the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. Enjoy a peaceful boat ride on the river, where the boats appear to float on air due to the incredible water clarity. Next, you can visit the nearby Bangladesh border at Tamabil. Continue your exploration with a visit to the iconic single-decker Living Root Bridge, a marvel of natural engineering shaped over generations by the Khasi people.
Later, take a refreshing trek through Mawlynnong, celebrated as Asia’s cleanest village, where vibrant gardens, bamboo walkways, and warm local hospitality. After a day filled with nature and culture, relax for the night with a stay at Ka Bri War or a similar homestay in the Dawki or Mawlynnong area.
Day 4
On Day 4, get ready to explore two of Meghalaya’s most breathtaking waterfalls before heading back to the city. Begin with a visit to the stunning Krang Suri Falls, known for its turquoise-blue waters and scenic surroundings—perfect for a refreshing dip or just soaking in the view.
Continue your journey to the equally mesmerizing Phe Phe Falls, a hidden gem offering a peaceful retreat and great photo opportunities. After enjoying the natural beauty, begin your drive back to Guwahati, retracing the picturesque routes through the hills. Arrive in Guwahati by evening and check-in for an overnight stay, preparing for your further adventures and departure the next day.
Day 5
On Day 5, start your morning with a spiritual visit to the revered Kamakhya Temple, one of the most important Shakti Peethas in India perched atop the Nilachal Hill. Take in the serene atmosphere and seek blessings from Goddess Kamakhya, experiencing the deep cultural and religious significance of the site.
After the darshan, proceed for your drop-off at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, marking the end of a memorable journey through the breathtaking landscapes and rich traditions of Meghalaya and Assam.
